The Valleylab Force 40 Generator
The new world standard in high performance.

Graphics (p.1-5)The Force 40 electrosurgical generator establishes a new world standard in advanced performance and operator convenience for today's most demanding surgical procedures, from cardiothoracic and urologic to ablative cancer surgery.

The microprocessor- controlled Force 40 provides more consistent performance over a wide range of tissue impedances. Along with greatly enhanced "user-friendly" features, the Force 40 offers an advanced level of patient safety--such as dosage error control and patented REM™ contact quality monitoring.

State-of-the-art performance
Pure and blended cut modes
Offer the surgeon varying levels of hemostasis.

Three coagulation modalities
Provide enhanced surgical flexibility. The desiccation mode facilitates contact coagulation for precise control of individual bleeders. The fulguration mode (spray coag at 6.0 crest factor) is designed to provide effective, non-contact coagulation. The highly efficient spray coagulation mode (spray coag at 8.5 crest factor) delivers a broader, more superficial coagulation pattern.

Standard and precise bipolar modes
Facilitate controlled desiccation without charring, adhesion, and blanching of adjacent tissues.

Simultaneous independently activated fulguration
Allows two surgeons to fulgurate simultaneously from a single generator.

Exclusive operating convenience
Flat front panel design
Adapts to ceiling- or cart-mounted applications, providing easy access to controls and visibility of LED displays.

Preprogrammed self-diagnostics
Perform a thorough system self-test when the generator is switched on. If a system fault is detected, an error code is displayed to assist the operator in correcting the condition.

Automatic reset mode
Conveniently restores generator power settings to preset values when the system self-test is completed.

Remote power control
Permits the surgeon to control cut and coag power settings from the sterile field for rapid response to changing surgical conditions.

Handswitching or footswitching control
Accommodates the surgeon's preference.

Advanced safety features
Dosage error control
Disables the generator when measured output exceeds the specified power range to prevent delivery of higher than desired power levels.

Autoranging REM™ System
Registers patient impedance at the return electrode site and disables the generator if the impedance level rises above the specified range, indicating a fault condition. When a Valleylab REM patient return electrode and REM generator are used together, the system virtually eliminates the risk of bums under the return electrode.

This system is backed by Valleylab's REM Hold Harmless Guarantee, indemnifying the facility, surgeon, and staff from liability for return electrode site bums.

Isolated output design
Directs current return to the generator, reducing the risk of alternate site hums.

Independent activation of accessories
Is designed to activate accessories only when keyed, to reduce the potential for inadvertent activation.
